Pre and post-natal work outs, food, CLOTHES....just because you're pregnant that doesn't mean you have to feel any less gorgeous and pampered than usual. So this guide is for expecting mothers in the city, take a little time for yourself....and of course, some extra tips for your new addition!

Get A Massage

The weight of a baby can not only add to your personal weight but increase previous pains or cause you to have more sores than ever before. Your feet are tired, your lower back is throbbing and overall, you’re exhausting. The common cure when you aren’t pregnant is to get a massage, so when you ARE pregnant, why shouldn’t you take the time for the same indulgence? Massages can help with circulation, release tension, improve mobility and help you ease up the pain in the parts of your body like your neck, shoulders, feet and lower back that aren’t used to having that much strain.

Though the last thing many of you would want to do while you feel like a gigantic woman who’s exhausted and overwhelmed, is have a photo shoot, once you’ve had the baby those times are truly precious memories that you’ll wish you would have had captured on film. There are plenty of photographers who specialize in photo shoots for pregnant women; colored, black or white, nude, clothed, with your partner or without….whatever suits you. Many of these photographers also take pictures once you have your newborn in your arms!! They’re tasteful and great way to capture the time of your pregnancy.

Girl, we know those feet are tired and the bunions are reminding you of it! Take advantage of down time now, while you can. Instead of busying yourself running to every baby store in town, take some time to sit at home in your cozy clothes and surf the web for whatever it is that you’re missing from the babies room. Online shopping is the way to go, you’ll do enough running around when you’ve got a little one, so kick your feet back and relax.

Go Shopping and Feel Like a Babe

Just because you’re having a BABY doesn’t mean you don’t get to FEEL like a BABE. Often it’s easier to throw on a pair of sloppy sweatpants and a men’s T-shirt so that you can swim in your clothes and feel like you’re hiding all of the new and foreign curves. It may be comfortable, but most likely you don’t feel like you look your best and the whole idea of “looking good and feeling good” is thrown out the window. You can, even when you’re pregnant, have both….LOOK AND FEEL GOOD. It also doesn’t have to take a lot of work. Luckily there are a ton fo maternity shops now for women to buy clothes that are still fashionable and chic. If you’re busy buying your baby a ton of clothes, you should buy some for yourself too!

Feel FIT!

I’d assume that it may be very tempting to skip the workouts when you feel like you have a basketball tied to your midsection and you’re exhausted. Though, it may be tempting it’s important during the pregnancy to stay fit and exercise gently. Many expectant mothers find yoga very helpful because it isn’t too hard on their bodies and it’s safe for the baby. Even if it’s simply walking on the treadmill or taking a stroll down the street. Luckily, there are plenty of fitness programs catering specifically to prenatal and post natal work outs to help your body feel healthy and stay in shape.

Postnatal Fit Tips:

  1. Snack! Once your new kiddie starts getting teeth the temptation to shove Goldfish and Cheerios in your mouth may be strong, so until you have to worry about that take this time when they’re still sipping milk to snack on the healthier options. While you’re breastfeeding you’re burning so many calories that snacking will help keep your energy up.
  2. TAKE NAPS…..it’s no secret that once the baby arrives sleeping is going to be less of a priority, or virtually nonexistent. The key is; nap whenever and as often as possible.
  3. Make exercise dates: Maybe it’s meeting another mom to take the babies on a stroll together through the neighborhood, or a weekly class. Once something is written in your schedule it’s much easier to make it a part of your life and NOT back out of it!

Stock up on good food!

Widget_dwhpt-yxfptpfnv4_0u6lr

Obviously veggies and fruit are essential part of anyones diet, when you’re pregnant, even more so. Stocking up on a proper amount of fiber, calcium, folic acid, etc. is really important. Buy organic foods and keep away from the caffeine and alcohol…..even though it may be tempting. The word on the street is that a glass every once in awhile isn’t bad for you in the beginning, but doctor’s will say no amount is truly safe.
