A Guide To It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
You've re-watched all four seasons so many times that you're now mouthing every line (make sure you're doing that in private), and you've started calling your friends, Dennis, Dee, Frank and Mac (of course you're Charlie). But if you really want to take a train to crazy town of It's Always Sunny in Philly fandom, why not literally follow in their footsteps? Here are some spots in Philly where the gang filmed (I mean lived, they're real characters in your obsessed mind).
You Sing The Theme Song And Have Memorized the Opening Scene...
so why not visit all 7 Philly spots shown in the opening sequence? Maybe make your own video skipping from location to location? (if you do please send me the video, puhleeze!)
3. Lincoln Financial Stadium
source
Sure, I watch the Eagles play, but only because the stadium was in Always Sunny’s opening scene. I think I would even consider watching Celine Dion sing if she was in the opening scene (now that’s love).

7. South Street
source
South St. is the red light district of Philly. And when the nightlife turns on at night, you should consider belting your rendition of The Nightman Cometh. (I’ll admit, I’ve hummed it in it’s entirety an obscene amount of times).

Philadelphia Java Company

Although the interior shots are filmed in L.A., the outdoor cafe scenes where Charlie stalks the waitress (who in real life is his wife) take place outside the Philadelphia Java Company.
As soon as season 5 shooting starts, I’m becoming a frequent cappuccino member. I’m not an Always Sunny stalker, maybe I just like their coffee?
And When They Start Filming Season 5...
Try to snag a shot (and not a restraining order) with the cast while in Philly…just like these lovely ladies have done.
FILMING SEASON 5 IN PHILLY. CAN YOU HEAR THE EXCITEMENT IN MY CAPS?
ok, phew. that caps outburst is done. but seriously, after learning that Always Sunny was filming in Philly yesterday, I transformed into a stalker and ran from spot to spot (granted they were filming in my ‘hood so I wasn’t running marathons, people). I watched them film!!! hooray!
From a South Philly mini park to taking over the Italian Market, I caught some closeups of the gang. I chatted with the medic on the shoot, one of the crew members (her sole responsibility for a span of an hour was to hold an umbrella if any cast wanted to be shady), learned about upcoming filiming locations (Dave & Busters, etc)
It’s hard to believe that I love IASIP even more after those glorious moments!
The white haired lady in the left corner is Charlie’s grandma! Too cute!
I’m pretty sure he was drunk

And For All Those Skeptics...
who don’t believe that my 7 spots are accurate, why not take a peek at the opening scene in this episode. Just fast forward to minute 2:18
From Opening Scene To On Location...
It’s time to separate the followers from the true blue fans. Knowing the opening scene and frolicking from spot to spot is only for the beginners (and slightly insane). A legit Always Sunny crazed fan identifies the true Philly spots from the LA fakery. Time to go where it all happened (just promise not to kiss the ground or do something else that reveals your sick obsession).
Love Park (JFK Plaza)
15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard Philadelphia, PA 19102
It looks like they’re at the fountain in JFK plaza (a.k.a LOVE park) getting ready to film a green man moment!
And While We're on The Topic Of Greenman...
don’t you think he should replace the Philly Phanatic? Greenman could represent Philly way better than the tubby goofball (ducking and covering from die hard Philly fans who hate me after that statement).
Greenman
I declare this spandex masterpiece the Philly mascot!
