When most people think of Detroit, they think of cars. While there are plenty of pretty automobiles to see while you're here, there are also plenty of museums, art exhibits, and towering art deco buildings from the early 20th century. If you're running on E in Motown, fill up with culture at some of these amazing locations.

While the C Pop Gallery may only be a short walk from the DIA, it is a museum on the opposite side of the spectrum altogether. Tiny small in comparison to the DIA, C Pop wastes no space as they fill every inch of their showroom with striking modern, post-modern, and pop culture oriented art.

The Heidelberg Project

Originating on Heidelberg Street, Tyree Guyton has created a tremendous display using the very neighborhood as his canvas. As unique of a work of art as it is an approach to fight urban decay, the Heidelberg project has transformed the houses, lots, yards, and playgrounds of this area of town into a bold challenge against poverty, as well as one of the most visited sites in Detroit.

Rowland Cafe sits in the main hall of Wirt Rowland’s masterpiece, the Guardian Building. Be ready to have your breath stolen away by the gorgeous tiled floors and mosaic-covered walls and ceiling as you walk into this newly renovated building from 1928. A cup of coffee is all the excuse you need to give yourself a sore neck as you stare upward in awe of the amazing detail put into this building.
