Because I'm bored with PBR: What Beers do YOU drink???
I'm willing to sacrifice the GUT, for the beverage. Plain and simple. Summer is the best season to get your beer drinking on; lazy weekend, days by the pool, BBQ'S, baseball games, vacations- ALL should involve delicious BEER. WHAT'S your favorite??? Here are some of mine, and I'm always seeking new, different, FLAVORFUL brews....so share the wealth! DRINK UP!
BLUE MOON
The beer is orange-amber in color with a cloudy appearance because it is unfiltered. It is also spiced with coriander and orange peel in addition to the hops found in most beers. Blue Moon does have a more pronounced orange flavor than many other beers of the style. The grain bill for Blue Moon includes malted barley, white wheat, and oats.
Honey Brown
In brewing Honey Brown, we use a dark pilsner style lager and add just the right amount of Manitoba Wildflower Honey. This creates a smooth Honey flavor that fades to a crisp dry finish. We use just enough hops to dry out the honey’s sweetness without lending any unpleasant bitterness to the finish.
Sam Adams Cherry Wheat
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat follows the centuries old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients, in this case Michigan cherries as well as a touch of honey. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the subtle citrus flavor from the Noble hops. The end result is a sweet, refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on complexity.
Levity
Levity is a lighter take on the amber ale. Munich and honey malts give it a full-bodied flavor and a happy-go-lucky personality. Then we let the finishing hops shine, for a beer that’s crisp instead of bitter, as many ambers are. Levity was named by our brewers partly for its light color – and partly for the way it just refuses to take itself too seriously.
Brooklyn Lager
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery’s flagship label, is New York’s “hometown” beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards, because it’s SUPER TASTY.
Season WOODY CREEK WHITE!
From Flying Dog Brewery:
Woody Creek White is a traditional Belgian-style Wit Beer, brewed with unique ingredients like orange peel and coriander, resulting in a refreshing and slightly citrus flavor, perfect for the “Dog Days of Summer”.
Kriek
This was ALL I drank in Belgium:
Kriek (pronounced ‘creek’) is a style of Belgian beer fermented with sour (also called Morello) cherries. The name is derived from the Flemish word for this type of cherry (kriek). Traditionally “Schaarbeekse krieken” (a rare Belgian morello variety) from the area around Brussels are used. As the Schaarbeek type cherries have become more difficult to find, some brewers have replaced these (partly or completely) with other varieties of sour cherries, sometimes coming from other countries.
Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale
Seasonal Ale Made with Honey, Orange Peel, and Natural Flavor, with Orange Flower Extract Added,
Hoegaarden White
Hoegaarden is the original Belgian white beer. It is best enjoyed as close to the brewery as possible as this is a beer that doesn’t travel well. But it is still worth a taste wherever you find it.
Sierra Nevada Summerfest
Our Summerfest is a refreshing, pilsner-style lager. Its incredible smoothness comes from an extra-long lagering period. Lighter in body than our ales but just as complex in character, Summerfest quenches your thirst with big aroma and a tangy hop bite.
Allagash White
Just had this for the first time the other weekend, and I’m a BIG fan.

Gueuze Fond Tradition
I just had this for the first time the other night and it was crazy different and unique. It was really tart and almost tasted like tart apple juice. I am definitely a fan, especially when I’m looking for something a lot different than the normal beer!

Never fails...ALWAYS DELICIOUS.
Bud Light (Ugh)
I’m curious to know if – since last week’s Beer Summit – Bud Light enjoyed any sales spike. This was Obama’s beer of choice… the most watered down, flavorless light beer out there. I can understand choosing a light beer (it was a business meeting), but still… not Coors? Not Miller? Not even Amstel Light?
Yuengling
Home sweet home. There’re obviously pros and cons to living only 90 minutes away from where you grew up. Yuengling being readily accessible is a BIG pro. The football season is only weeks away. That means on Sunday: leave me alone, get me a Yuengling, find a half-decent cheesesteak place in NYC, and let’s watch some Eagles football!
Smirnoff
Although heavily debated to be a “chick beer,” my drink of choice is flavored Smirnoff. I never really got around to even liking the smell of regular beer.
Vanilla Porter
My favorite Breckenridge Brewery beer “An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery’s Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea.”
LA ROSSA!
I’m a good Italian girl, so Italian beer is naturally one of my favorite things.
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber color that characterizes the beer, comes from the kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley).
1554
Born of a flood and centuries-old Belgian text, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale uses a light lager yeast strain and dark chocolaty malts to redefine what dark beer can be. In 1997, a Fort Collins flood destroyed the original recipe our researcher, Phil Benstein, found in the library. So Phil and brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, traveled to Belgium to retrieve this unique style lost to the ages. Their first challenge was deciphering antiquated script and outdated units of measurement, but trial and error (and many months of in-house sampling) culminated in 1554, a highly quaffable dark beer with a moderate body and mouthfeel.
THIS IS AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS.
Dale's Pale Ale
This is why I’m grateful to be from Colorado!!
Oskar Blues Brewery is part of the Oskar Blues Grill and Brew restaurant and is located in Lyons, Colorado, near the city of Boulder. Oskar Blues is unique in that it serves micro-brewed beer in cans, contrary to the normal practice of bottling micro brews. The brewery is owned by Dale Katechis, a native of Florence, Alabama who brought canned beer and southern fried foods together for an interesting twist on the micro-brew pub.
They brew many beers, most notably Ten Fidy, Old Chub Scottish Style Ale, and Dale’s Pale Ale, which was voted as the best American pale ale by the New York Times.
Peroni
Peroni is the Peroni company’s original brand, and the best selling pale lager in Italy. It is 4.7% abv, and is made with barley malt, corn grits, hop pellets and hop extract. By the 1950s and 1960s, Peroni had become the brand of beer most recognized throughout the Italian peninsula. The following decade saw the expansion of Peroni into foreign markets through international distribution, itself spurred by recognition of the increasingly popular advertising for the Peroni brand. Today, market research confirms Peroni as the most recognized and most widely consumed Italian beer.
Leffe Blonde
Leffe Blonde has a clear, golden body with a thick, dense and rocky head. It’s nose is fully of bananas and sweet spice. The mouthfeel is silky and the beer sweet. It tastes much as it smells – like liquid banana bread and a nice snap at the back. A lingering sweetness becomes almost cloying.
Pyramid Apricot Weizen Ale
Pyramid Apricot Weizen Ale is left unfiltered for extra flavor and aroma. The gold medalist of fruit beers, Pyramid Apricot Weizen is an adventurous wheat ale that offers the pleasing aroma and flavor of fresh apricots, and smooth and refreshing character for which our wheat beers are known.
Longboard from Kona Brewing Company
Longboard Island Lager is a smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for five weeks at cold temperatures to yield its exceptionally smooth flavor. A delicate, slightly spicy hop aroma complements the malty body of this beer.
Bohemia
Crisp, clean, slightly spicy and refreshing. A rich golden color, with a strong hop flavor.
Guinness!
It’s not just for St. Patrick’s Day.
Woodchuck Cider
If you’re into cider beers, this is definitly my favorite one!
Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout
This is my go-to beer when I don’t feel like making decisions. I LOVE dark, flavorful beers and this one is so robust and delicious. He’s not Sam Adams, but Sam Smith is pretty awesome too.

Abbey by New Belgium
I also love the Abbey Grand Cru, but it’s only sold at the New Belgium brewery!
Brooklyn Pennant Ale '55
Brewed to commemorate The Brooklyn Dodgers World Series title, Pennant Ale is my favorite beer. Whenever I can find it, I buy it (especially in out-of-town situations). Plus, it is a bit sentimental to me since my first apartment in Brooklyn was only 10 blocks away from the site of Ebbets Field – where said World Series was won.
Rogue Dead Guy Ale
I love this beer. It’s sweet, a little heavy, and goes awesome with pizza.
Abita Amber
Once upon a time I got Smith College to pay for a trip to New Orleans, the object of said trip being attending an anthropology conference. I discovered Abita Amber pretty soon after landing. Draw your own conclusions.
Bourgie Beers included!!
PS: I did not authorize the picture of my belly for use on Guidespot.com but I guess you can use it :)
Downtown Brown - Lost Coast Brewing
I have never been steered wrong by Lost Coast. Every beer they make is delicious, but I find myself going back to Downtown Brown all the time.
