Share Your Slice: Best Pizza In Philadelphia
Philadelphians have their favorite pizza spots throughout the city. So, in an effort to figure out which "reigned supreme" (inside joke for Iron Chef fans), I did a little of personal taste-testing (tough job) and asked everyone on Twitter to tweet their suggestions. So, if you're looking for the best pie around town, try one of these Philly pizzerias.
Little Italy Pizza
This family friendly pizza spot is my favorite place to grab a slice (or let’s be honest, a whole pie). You can taste the freshness of the ingredients that they use with every bite. I recommend the Margarita pie with the most perfect sauce, fresh basil and mozzarella. But don’t take my word for it, look at the reviews here.

Slice
You’re tired of waiting in the line at Pat’s and Geno’s, but still need to feed the need for something cheesy and warm, then walk a few blocks over to Slice in South Philly.
If you want to eat outside the pizza box, try one of their specialty pies: Clams Casino-clams, bacon, red onions.

Overbrook Pizza
In West Philadelphia, born and raised….OK you finish the rest of the Fresh Prince song, but if you happen to be in Mr. Smith’s ‘hood you should check out Overbrook Pizza. According to one of their biggest fans this small, family-owned takeout pizza shop located on N 63rd Street, just off of City Avenue in West Philadelphia, “remains a time-tested favorite of Saint Joseph’s University students. Their crispy, flaky crust is loaded with a sweet sauce and tons of delicious cheese, and their cheese steaks rival the best in Philadelphia. Rumor has it that even Will Smith recommends Overbrook Pizza. It’s only a 2-minute walk from Overbrook train station, 1 stop outside center-city on the R5.”
Rustica
This northern liberties pizza shop has quite a following thanks to its use of all natural ingredients and unusual toppings, like brussel sprouts.
My taste buds are tempted by their McTigue: Whole Wheat Pizza with figs, pinenuts, gogonzola, fresh basil and balsamic glaze. Check out their menu
Lazaros
If you’re looking for a sweet sauce, then head over to this pizza shop or call for delivery. In the mood to experiment beyond cheese and tomato? Give their clam casino pie a try.

Marras
Try this “fourth generation family owned spot”:http://www.marras1.com/ for killer brick oven pizza and antipasto salad. And if you feel like putting that dough to work, have it soak up some brews from plenty of nearby bars. FYI: no slices sold here. Only pies.
The word on the street is that the white pie with spinach & garlic is seriously delicious!
(yes, that’s a photo of the first generation owners)
Mama Palma's
This isn’t a secret spot, so get ready to wait for a table. Or you could dine alfresco: grab a pie to-go and take it to Rittenhouse square (a few blocks away).
According to one Mama Palma’s regular, get beyond the plain pie and opt for the non-traditional toppings, like brie and peking duck pizza.
And if you’ve got some health nuts in your pizza eating group, they’ll be happy to know they can order whole wheat crust.

Osteria
Osteria, known for their gourmet pizza with cracker-thin, brick-oven baked crust, has been featured on the Food Network show, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”

Celebre Pizzeria
Head to packer park in south philly (right near the stadium) to pick up one of Celebre’s pies.
White “Pizazz” Pie is a favorite for many.
So instead of paying too much for mediocre food at the stadium, snag a slice and a beer around the corner from the stadium at Celebre.
FYI: They don’t serve by the slice, so come hungry and eat the whole pie.
