Chandler offers Some of the Best Asian Fare in Arizona

Opened about ten years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona, by oil-tycoon converted to restaurateur, Paul Flemings, PF Chang’s is one of the best and most elegant of Chinese restaurants in the state. The PF stands for Paul Fleming, and Chang is the name of the world-class and world famous, five-star chef Chang who created all of the items and recipes on the menu.

When dining at PF Changs you will notice immediately that the restaurant drives it’s theme from ancient Chinese culture. Decadent entrances adorned with prowling dragons and other Asian artifacts greet hungry visitors. The service is amazing and you can tell that the staff is extremely well trained in the art of customer service—an aspect overlooked by far too many restaurants.

Once inside the place is enormous and has ample seating for a few hundreds patrons—and not surprisingly this place quite often will reach capacity on the weekends. Point and case: make a dinner reservation for faster seating here or you will wish that you had. While waiting for a seat you can grab a stool at their very large bar and have a nice drink.

This place offers traditional Chinese dinning with a Westernized flare. Order a few dishes and share them with the family. I recommend the lettuce wraps; they are the best in the state. For main dishes the sweet & sour chicken and Mongolian beef are simply enticing.

A small and dainty little Asian restaurant tucked into the southern part of the city of Chandler, Arizona near the Tempe border. The first thing that I noticed when I dined here was that the place was filled with other Asians eating. I always take notice of this no matter what restaurant I am in. If there are Asians eating it then it must be authentic.

While the location is not very large and can only hold roughly about hundred people, the service and the food are marvelous. They host an array of fine Asian beers and their menu is actually quite large and features more than fifty dishes. Another thing to note is that they have really nice place settings and tables—and chairs that are comfortable.

You will not have wait too long to get a seat inside this restaurant. Once seated make sure you order the egg rolls—they are divine. Other great eats include their Kung Pow Chicken—spicy—and their fried Tofu; the best I have ever had!

This place is very well known in the Valley of the Sun and hosts several locations throughout the state that have grown from what once was only a single location. Pei Wei offers some of the best damn Asian food you will ever eat and at some crazy good prices. They are medium-priced so you know that you will eat well without going broke in the process.

The service is really good and you will not wait to get a table for very long at this enormous Chandler location, even if the place seems packed once you arrive. The interior could use a brush up but still portrays an elegant and refined, Westernized Asian feel. The tables and chairs are a little snug, which can make for passing dishes cramped.

But the main theme of this place is their awesome entrées. Served like traditional Asian food restaurants—you order several dishes and you share them. The egg rolls are great and I recommend the Orange Peel Chicken as one of your entrées; they have great tofu as well.

Opened just a few short years ago on the northern tip of Chandler bordering the city of Mesa, Arizona, C-Fu has been criticized by some food critics and praised by others. I happen to think that they offer a fairly decent Asian menu and pretty good customer service. Although you will not hear me calling them the best, they are still a great place to go and eat.

The main theme of this Asian restaurant is their seafood. They feature a live seafood gallery that has plenty of tanks. You select the fish they grill it. Sure you could come here to eat other dishes, but go with the flow and grab some fish.

Rating based upon personal experience: Three stars for live fish, great location, okay service and decent beer selection. The interior is boring and could use a makeover.
