"You'll Shoot Your Eye Out Kid": What Was That Gift You Never Recieved

Everyone has one present that they had hoped to open up on Christmas day but they never got it. That's actually not even remotely true, but it sounds more dramatic. Some people don't celebrate Christmas and some people get everything they want but everyone's been disappointed or greedy at some point. Even those catty broads on My Super Sweet 16 complain about not getting something. What was that present for you? Whether it was Hanukkah, a birthday present...etc

The Baseball Kid Commercial (1981)

I probably haven’t heard this song in close to 25 years yet somehow I’ve remembered it for all this time.

I asked for this damn toy for years and I never received it. I don’t really understand why. I would get bikes and a number of other more expensive gifts but never this one. After I while I began asking for it just to see if I would eventually get it. I didn’t.

The Barbie Jeep

I asked for this EVERY YEAR! All my friends had one, and I only received a jeep for Barbie herself. Hey, I’m still asking for it! I would drive that around instead of a real car! Saves gas, right?

Easy Bake Oven

I wanted the Easy Bake Oven for YEARS and I never got it! Seriously, I asked for it every year. I still want it. I’m 24 years old and will probably buy it for myself this Christmas.

Sword Cane

I actually do know why I never got this one. U.S. Cavalry randomly sent a catalog to my house when I was about 14 and, when I saw these canes with swords hidden in them, I wanted one instantly.

I remember trying to order one for $40 and my mom tripped out. “What if it winds up in the wrong hands?” she asked to which I responded, “It will be in the wrongs hand, I’m 14!” That obviously didn’t help.

I would ask for it anyway but…. it never happened.

Sega Genesis

I was 8 years old and really wanted a Sega Genesis that year for Christmas, but Mom couldn’t afford it. I’m not bitter, though; Mom often had to work two jobs just to fee me, so given the choice between food and Sega, I could go without Sonic the Hedgehog.

Warning: This Is Weird

I blame this childhood obsession squarely on my parental units . . . who had (have?) horrible musical taste. Why was there a Crystal Gale CD lying around the house?

Anyway, I wanted my Mom not to make me cut my hair for 4 years. I was completely driven. I wanted Crystal Gale hair, and I wanted it bad.

I never got this Christmas wish. Geez. What a creepy kid I was.

Barbie Dreamhouse

I asked repeatedly for YEARS. The worst part, when I had a baby sister- she got one. SHE DIDNT EVEN LIKE BARBIES.

Go Go My Walking Pup

This remote-controlled dog was sold out in all of Illinois and Wisconsin around Christmas time. Needless to say, heartbreak ensued.

By the way, I love the sword canes.

I too wanted an easy bake oven! But it turned out alright in the end, b/c I went straight to the real oven and now I am a domestic goddess and culinary genius. Something tells me baking one cookie at a time with a friggin light bulb would not have produced the same results.
