Your Fantasy Wedding Involves _________.
Everyone knows you get married so that you can have a grand wedding at someone else's expense and a kick-ass party to follow...and so you can get tax breaks and have two chances at health insurance instead of just one. Right? Right! (I kid...) Here's my problem: I find most weddings incredibly dull. DJ or rock cover band? Original. Trying-to-be-witty best man speech. Key word "trying." Mediocre platters of catered food. Ick. So boring! Which is why if and when I get married, I'm hoping to have a really over-the-top and ridiculous wedding that will potentially (and hopefully) cause everyone to think "WTF?" and "What's wrong with the bride?" and if I'm reeeeealllly lucky, a few "Best Wedding EVER" statements. I mean, sometimes someone thinks it's funny to take their now-husband's AK-47 and pretend to shoot him. Brilliant! What is (or was) your fantasy wedding?
Four Pierogi (yes that’s the plural, people!) race at every Pittsburgh Pirates’ baseball game and they never fail to crack me up. Now here’s what I’m thinking (and don’t tell future attendees): at some point during the ceremony, maybe during the “forever hold your peace” part, the Pierogi come RACING up the aisle and everyone is just amazed and appalled. It will be fantastic.
For the crazyheads like me who refuse to follow the leader and don’t necessarily like to follow “tradition”…
Yeah…you get down on one knee and the answer is “no.” Also, I’m anti-engagement ring, so, save it! Buy me some vintage cookware or the complete set of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and it’s a deal!
On bended knee...at DisneyWorld
Is that how you snag a woman? That’s how you make me throw up. Is he wearing tapered jeans and sneakers? I bet they rode on It’s A Small World and loved it. (Okay I loved it too).
A Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dress
….Oh I pretty much LOVE Monique Lhuillier…..LOVE, Almost as much as I’d love the person I’m marrying ;) ha.
Married by Elvis
I wanted to get married by Elvis. I didn’t get my wish so I did it on an anniversary instead. I recommend this to everyone, it was tons of fun. Be sure to mix with alcohol.

Sushi Wedding Cake
I was going to say I would love a sushi bar at my dream wedding, but then I found this cake and well, why not?? Of course I’d still want the traditional wedding cake, but I’d start the dinner by feeding my new hubby from this. And then I’d proceed to eat the whole thing. Um, can I get married now?

Wedding PIE
I’m not really a cake person, and definitely not a wedding cake person (have you tasted wedding cake? Usually not good!) but I AM a pie person. One of my favorite TV shows, “Ed,” featured a wedding pie during the last season. Awesome! I’m also a big fan of bread pudding and cowboy cookies, so I think a smorgasboard of NOT-cake desserts would be lovely.
You’ve gotta admit, her peeps desgn some cool cakes.
Chow has some suggestions:
How about bbq? Burgers from In-N-Out? Taco trucks? Now we’re talking.
Food Fight!!
Yeah, I want a giant food fight. We’re talking capers in auntie’s hair and frosting all over the best man’s tux. Hunks of french bread sailing through the air . . . how awesome would that be?!!
My dream wedding has involved one or more of the following at one point or another:
- a barbeque
- an Ipod (instead of a band/DJ)
- a circus tent on the beach
- lemon centerpieces (instead of flowers)
- no bridesmaids
- no shoes
I conducted a phone interview with the barefoot minister, Anne Marie Porter, once. This woman is all sunshine. She marries couples in low-key, inexpensive ceremonies on the relatively undeveloped island of St. John. Yes, please. Oh, and maybe a couple of close friends, family and some coconut cupcakes. Done. Perfect. Let’s go swimming.
…Except I will most certainly NOT be wearing white. It would be unflattering and misleading…
Pink Bridesmaid Dresses
for starters, the dresses will be pink. and the flowers will be pink. the centerpieces? Oh, they’ll be pink, too. basically, I’ll have an overwhelming amount of pink at my wedding!
