Halloween is over, but there's still plenty of scary stuff going on in Boston. Trust me. While it's generally a nice, pleasant city, there's sketchy stuff going on all around. You just have to know where to look. Feel like being scared silly? Just go to a few of these places...but just beware, you might not come back!

Salem is the spookiest during the Halloween season, but it has the power to scare you any time you go. It is the home of witches afterall. You really must check out the Salem Witch Museum. And try to read “The Crucible” before you go. It will make your experience evern scarier!

Yes, this is an extreme incident, but still. It happens and it’s scary. Even if it doesn’t happen, that guy sitting next to you who hasn’t showered in 3 weeks will do a fine job at scaring you.

The T? Is scary no matter what. And scary for so many reasons. Either you have an a**hole driver who jerks the car around and doesn’t know how to properly step on the breaks. Or you’re sitting next to a scary person who’s ranting and raving about the injustices of the world (or threatening to beat his girlfriend. True story. Saw it the other day!).

I unfortunately have no choice but to take the T quite often, but I’m always scared when I’m on it. Boo!

Tia's

Cute, right? Not so much once you get inside.

Tia's On the Waterfront

200 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02110

Tia’s has so much potential to be a totally cool place, but instead, it scares me. It’s prime real estate; right on the water and a super busy after work spot in the nice weather. The problem is it’s a super busy after work place for creeps. So not only are there creeps everywhere, but the place is so packed, that you’re actually pressed up against the creeps all around you. And you can’t move and you can’t get away from them. And there is nothing scarier than that.

Marina Bay

Ooh yay, welcome to the scary show.

Marina Bay On Boston Harbor

333 Victory Rd, Quincy, MA 02171

Marina Bay is another beautiful place, until you take a bit of a closer look. The people who hang out at Marina Bay mostly think they’re the coolest people in the world when really many of them live at home with mom and dad and can’t be bothered to make the trek in to Boston. So they hang out in Quincy. And try to pick up girls who are wearing far too few clothes.

Why are some of the prettiest places also the scariest??

Faneuil Hall Marketplace

4 S Market St, Boston, MA 02109

Another beautiful and historic place that can get scary. Definitely go here during the day. Check out the history, shops, etc. Take a tour. People watch. It’s a lovely place. But once the night falls on a Friday or Saturday, go home. Or at least somewhere else in the city. Weekend nights in Faneuil Hall are when the scary happens. There’s always a fight between drunk boys. And creepy people hitting on girls everywhere. Faneuil Hall is just not fun at this time. Unless you really like being scared silly.

Hong Kong At Faneuil Hall

65 Chatham St, Boston, MA 02109

I’ve only been here a handful of times, and then I learned to stay far far away. Somehow I wandered over after the other Faneuil Hall bars had closed and realized they served chicken on a stick. Yes, it sounds like a fine idea when you’re a little tipsy, but don’t do it. A Chinese restaurant probably shouldn’t also be a bar where people dance and sing kareoke until 2 a.m. The floors are so sticky and everything is so dirty, you’re sure to leave scared that you picked up all sorts of diseases.

The Fung Wah Bus

Surely you’re smart enough to be scared of the Fung Wah, correct? These buses get in far too many accidents, like driving through toll booths barriers, completely forgetting to stop. You will be scared for your life if you take this bus.

I also recommend staying away from the Lucky Star. Last time I was on it, the driver forgot to close the luggage compartment and didn’t understand when we told him. He finally pulled over on the middle of the highway and closed it. Sigh. Scary.

Hampton Inn Parking Lot at Lechmere

Hampton Inn Boston/Cambridge, MA

191 Monsignor O'brien Highway, Cambridge, MA 02141

I am in no way saying the Hampton Inn is a scary hotel, because I actually think it’s a quite nice and pretty place to stay. However, try to stay away from the parking lot behind the hotel.

Oh sure it seems like you hit the jackpot when you realize you can park your car here for free for as long as you like. And then you pull into the lot and see people scattering into the woods. And then one time you leave your car for one night and return to find the windows busted in and every single item you had in your car gone. And then a homeless man comes out of the woods and hands you your college notebooks.

Yup. Scary.

Do You Miss Halloween Already?

Are you sad Halloween is over and you weren’y scared sufficiently? Don’t fear (or do fear?) because there are plenty of places you can go in Boston to get scared!

That Fung Wah Bus does sound scary… Imagine, you could wake up to your seat mate cutting your neck with a butcher knife! Wait, that was Greyhound. Ew.
