How to Get What You Want at Your Salon Visit!
This guide will help you get the most out of your next salon visit.

1. Bring in Pictures.
It is very important to bring in photos of pictures or colors that you like. Let’s say you like the hair color of a model in the Christian Dior ad but you like the cut of Halle Berry. Bring in both pictures so the stylist can create a customized look for you. Don’t expect them to have pictures of what you like.
2. Don't EVER say "do whatever you want."
If you tell the stylist to do whatever you want, you will get what the stylist wants. This can include a dramatic pixie cut with violet low-lights. A cute look, but necessarily what you want. If you give your stylist creative license to do whatever they think looks best, don’t be shocked with the results.
If you are unsure of what you want, spend some time talking to them about it. But NEVER tell them to do whatever because you may not like the outcome.
4. All about style.
If part of your service includes a style, ask your hairstylist how to get salon results at home. Talk to them about what products are best for your hair and what tools to use to get great results. Ask them if you can try the blow-dry method they use while you are in their chair. Take advantage of their expertise and get sexy salon hair every time you style your own hair.
5. Freebies please.
Ask your stylist if they have any free samples you can take home. Many stylists know that once you try a great product, you will be hooked for life. If they don’t have any in stock, ask them if they can get some for you. Once you have the sample, use it!
If you like the sample, it is important to purchase the product from you stylist. If you purchase professional products from a grocery store or a big-box retailer, you may not even be getting the real product. It may be expired, watered down or contaminated. Professional hair care lines DO NOT sell to those types of stores.
3. Ask your stylist if they have any promotions going on.
It’s tough times and stylists know about that better than anyone. Clients are waiting longer in between appointments so many stylists have created promotions to bring in clients sooner. Ask them if they have any deals, coupons, or promotions going on.
If they don’t, ask if there is an email list they send special promotions do. Don’t expect your stylist to volunteer this information. Just remember that it can’t hurt to ask!

Don't be clueless.
Don’t assume anything! Ask questions about the service you are getting done to your hair. For example, you ask for highlights and the stylists proceeds to use a new highlighting product. The product is better for your hair than bleach and it happens to cost an extra $80. Make sure you know what it is your are getting done to your hair, what damage it may be doing, upkeep on the service and style, products your need, and cost. Ask lots of questions and know what is going. on.
