Some places I've found for boat rentals around the San Juan Islands.

West Beach Resort

190 Waterfront Way, Eastsound, WA 98245

Rents out kayaks for day use from Eastsound, but rented kayaks must stay within the bay. Rates: $18/hr, $60/day (no overnight rentals). This is a resort, but they are happy to rent to non-resort guests.

Has a 22’ sailboat with 4hp Yamaha for rental out of Deer Harbor Marina. Rates: $175 for 4 hrs, $250 for 1 day (8 hrs), discounts for renting for 3 or more consecutive days. “Overnight [rentals] are a possibility.”

Sea Kayaking

All the places I contacted said that they don’t rent out sea kayaks for unguided island-hopping, due to liability issues.  There are many places that do guided sea kayak tours, but I don’t think that’s what we want…
