If you’re looking to impress Bar 10 at the Copley Westin is the place to go.  With mellow music and modern asthetics, this place is the perfect lunch date spot.  The portions are large and the staff is friendly.  Instead of typical resturant seating, you’ll find yourself settling into a comfy arm chair making it rather diffucult to want to leave.  There does not seem to be an overwhelming lunch crowd here making Bar 10 a great place to do some talking.

Hometown Bakery & Cafe

More South End than Back Bay this charming place is too good to leave off the list.  Appleton’s is the perfect spot for the picky eater serving everything from chicken cutlets to cupcakes.  Daily specials can be found online.  Made from scratch makes everything delicious and there is always a crowd.  Since this is a local lunch favorite, the tables go quick but the line moves fast.  A great place to go when you have just enough time to sneak out to grab something and then eat at your desk.  They do have some outdoor seating but, like the indoor seating, it goes quick!

Comfort foods with a twist

Setting up shop on the corner of Dartmouth Street and Columbus Avenue, Coda may be one of Bostons best kept secrets for lunch.  The menu is small but features amazingly done entrees like the ‘to die for’ mac & cheest (with pancetta and peas) as well as salads and delicious sandwiches.  Most items on the menu are served with in house hand cut french fries that alone are worth the trip.  Coda is not very big so I would not recommend it for a large group, but for lunch with a colleague or two it is perfect.  The service is always stellar and you never have to worry about getting back to work late.  Another plus are the prices – salads and sandwiches will not set you back more than $9

In the mood for sushi?

Just outside Back Bay Station and next to the heath conscious b.good is Douzo. They have an extensive sushi and sashimi menu as well as non-sushi favorites such as udon (noodles) and chicken teriyaki. While they are reasonably priced for fresh well made sushi, Douzo is not a bargain lunch. The atmosphere is always calm here at lunch time which makes this a great spot to meet friends for lunch. As you’re walking out the door don’t forget to grab a few colorful mints, those alone will make you want to come back.
