Parties That Cook has teamed up with Epicurean Concierge, Lisa Rogovin, to bring you an in-depth culinary adventure set in San Francisco's famous Mission District where the traditional and often lusty Latino and South American flavors are a part of a changing community of various background and cultures. Bring your appetite and a bottle and water and meet Lisa for the first half of the event - an exciting culinary tour of the Mission. Experience authentic tacos from El Farolito, Humphry Slocombe's award-winning ice cream, hand held savory pies delivered by Bike Basket Pies, and freshly baked mini cupcakes from Mission Minis. You'll take a guided mural tour led by a docent from Precita Eyes and stop into La Palma Foods, a Mexican market where you'll see some of the ingredients you'll later learn to cook with. The moving tour ends at La Victoria Bakery where pan dulce is a specialty. You'll not only tour the bakery's kitchen, but you'll join the Parties That Cook chefs for a hands-on cooking class featuring the exotic flavors of the Mission. At this exciting interactive cooking lesson, guests enjoy a lively introductory cooking demo featuring tips such as the fastest way to dice an onion without a tear. Guests then break into teams and learn to prepare recipes from the day's Latin-inspired small plates menu, all while listening to upbeat music. When the cooking is over, you'll savor the 'fruits' of your labor hot from the oven! October 16 Menu - TBD Vegetarian options available with five-day advance request, email info@partiesthatcook.com. Parties That Cook designs fresh seasonal menus for each event. Guests do not need cooking experience to attend.
