Nintendo Accessories Every Girl Should Want...
Unless you’re an avid gamer and can back it up, wearing too much gaming gear makes you look like a poser. Personally, I prefer geek-chic — or as I call it, Lipstick Geek. I’m still feminine, yet I can generally hold my own (or try!) with most games. And yes, I’d definitely be wearing a skirt to any LAN parties or Wii Tournaments. Just because I'm a girl-geek doesn't mean that I need everything to be pink! Here are some awesome accessories any female Nintendo Fan might want...
I’ll admit that I haven’t really found a DS case that’s made me go “WANT” for a while… until now. And for $13 at Newegg.com, yeah, that’s a want I can handle! Still has a little pink, but that shiny silver just classes it all up. Though I will admit, the brand name — Thrustmaster — makes me giggle.
This Keys Factory Mini Chocolat card case is the perfect for the DS girl. Buying game cases has been a nightmare for me and I’ve just given up! I’ve resorted to just buying ones with characters on them — not that I don’t mind characters, but I am 25 and would like something a bit more mature. They also have matching DS cases (which hold games as well) that come in black and pink.
While this won’t charge your Wiimotes, it will keep them out of the way in this minimalist dock.
Okay. Yes. It’s pink. A rosy-fuchsia-y pink. But it’s a nice case nonetheless. And, it also comes in silver and black. Just a quick amazon search for Wii Cases and you’ll find this beauty for about $16.
Want something Monogrammed? The folks at Pottery Barn Teens has this awesome — non-pink — traveling case for only $15. It’s a bit more genderless, but still nice.
I’ve never been a fan of the stickers that come with the Guitar Hero controllers. And if I’m going to rock out like a true rockstar, then I’m going with Skin-it. Not only can they create skins for practically anything, but they allow you to customize your own design. Trust me, I’ll be pushing them on you a bit. So if you don’t want to go with the limited face plate designs out there for either GH or Rock Band, check out skin it and truly own it when you’re rockin’ out.
Also checkout their respective stores for other unique items, like say pink zebra striped drumsticks.
The small and large of it...
Get something that reflects your personal style. If that’s bright and bold, go for one larger accent like a necklace or handmade hair clip. If it’s a bit more main stream, or you’re a causal gamer, go for some subtle yet unique pieces such as the SarahLynne necklace or the Keys Factory Chocolat cases.
Whatever your style, there’s Nintendo gear for you.
Some Bling Bling!
When it comes to gaming jewelery, I think subtle is key.
Sarah Lynne does a lot of unique and classy jewelery, even beyond gaming to traditional pendents to steampunk-esque accessories.
Unfortunately, she’s mostly sold out at the moment, but should be getting more in stock within the next month or so!
This particular necklace is nice because it resembles a classic controller without being a miniature replica of one. If you’re going with the replica-style, size is a key which I address below…
You can definitely be hot yet fun with these Nintendo gun earrings. Now, I don’t have my ears pierced (yeah, I know, I’m odd), but if I was just going over to a friend’s house to play games, or just a casual day out on the town, fun yet tasteful earrings can add to any outfit!
Remember, you can get handmade items that won’t overwhelm your entire outfit. (Or look like someone made it for you at summer camp — not that there’s anything wrong with that…)
Okay. So this one’s pink. But a little pink can’t kill you. This clutch has many things going for it. It’s feminine without being gaudy, it’s retro but still has a bit of edge to it. It can go casual or can add some spunk to something a little more formal.
Yes, I would totally wear these. Now, compared to other nintendo-themed panties I’ve seen this is why I’d choose these: there’s no cartoon character on them. Seriously, when it’s about to be sexy-time, you don’t need a little 2D friend joining in…. (or do you?)
Major downside to these: they are damn near impossible to find! (If anyone finds them, please let me know!)
I have a love-hate relationships with pins. As a massive collector/horde-er of things, I love pins and the idea of having a lot of them. However, I rarely wear the few pins I own. Why? Because most pins seem the same. These however, by stitchandplay, are unique, a little less “in-your-face” and yes, cute.
