If you are vegetarian or vegan – this will not be your spot of interest. For those that enjoy a good steak, veal chop, lamb, or other meats, then this is your forum, to promote your likes, dislikes, and areas of interest. Many of our readers will never have had the opportunity of remembering when you could walk into the corner butcher shop and have your meat hand cut by a butcher, because most have gone the way of the dinosaur. Most of us order your prime cuts of meat that have been pre-packaged in cryovac bags, with little to no aging, and chemicals that are meant to preserve the meat for who knows how long. In today’s world of super-centers and wholesale warehouses there are still corner butcher shops that compete with the large box retailers and provide an invaluable service to the meat eating community.

Hey Shawna Having been exposed to the beef selections in grocery stores, I can understand you desire to seek out a local butcher. I’ve not been to Denver in a while, but I recall that there are a number of really good butchers. My advice is to Google butcher shops in your area and then research them on the local restaurant and dining blogs. Locals in your area are the best resource for commenting on local butchers. As an example, Hamm’s has been around since 1954, and has a number of loyal customers that sing our shops praises. Best of luck to you on your search… Buy and eat locally.
