When most people think theatre, they think a big regional playhouse or the place where the latest musical is touring. If you are interested in exploring something beyond the big spectacle, which also means REASONABLE ticket prices, check out the local theatres....These are my favorite theatres in Denver....

My Favorite Stages…(in no particular order)

John Ashton has been putting on great comedy hits for years in Denver. It’s rare that you’ll see a dud of a show at the Avenue…

A quirky, fun place for sketch and improv theatre. A favorite for me is the Monday Night Hootenany! Local improv groups perform, only $5!

Germinal has been around for over 25 years in Denver under Ed Baierlein and Sallie Diamond’s artistic vision. If you’re looking for a great, small, actor-oriented theatre, this is it! No audience member is further than 30 feet from the stage!

Shadow Theatre is basically the only up and running (consistently) African-American Theatre gig in Denver, as I think Eulipion’s and Eden Theatre are no longer up and running consistently.

A great theatre for both Spanish and non-Spanish speaking folks…Edgy, political, funny, and provocative theatre is what you’ll get here!
