Don't You Wish Your Trolley Was Hot Like Mine?
Ever since the Full House opening credits graced my Friday night TV screen, I have always envied the Tanners joyfully riding the trolley. Lucky for me, Philadelphia learned a lesson from San Fran and added their own Trolley (minus the tracks), the Philly Phlash. I heart everything about this trolley.....really, everything! Now I ride in style, public transportation style that is.
It Takes You To The Best Spots in Philly
From Penns landing, Historic Philly, Convention Center, City Hall, Museum District, Centennial District the Phlash is painting the city purple (I really love that it’s purple), and taking trolley transport lovers to over 25 key spots in Philly. Download the map to see all 27 stops.
This magic purple trolley saved my staycation. Friends picked a few numbers (we had to remind a certain someone that 100 didn’t count since there are only 27 stops-ugh), and then we went to Philly cultural hot spots associated with those numbers: Philly Zoo, Convention Center (Reading Terminal), and Fairmount Park.
Stop #14: Philly Museum of Art...and Fairmount Park, Boathouse Row
Save your energy to run the Rocky steps by jumping on the Purple ride to the Art Museum. You don’t have to be huffing and puffing as you run (because running the steps and pretending to be Rocky isn’t embarrassing enough).

Just In Case You Need To Know That "You Are HERE"
There’s a map at every Phlash stop to bring out the tourist in you. Take it to a whole new “are we there yet?” tourist level and open up the fold up map that you took from the trolley. And unlike Septa maps, they’re easy to understand.
Never Leaves You Hanging On The Corner
Unlike Septa buses that leave you waiting so long on the corner that people start questioning your profession, Philly Phlash will be at their stops every 12minutes between 10am and 6pm. Septa is really like a bad date that stands you up every Friday. Time to break up with Septa.
Pimped Out Trolley Style on The Inside
Instead of sticky leather cab seats or cramped bus seats, this Trolley has wooden benches to give it the real authentic Trolley feel. Oh and did I mention the colonial flute music to give it the historic Philly vibe? Then add the multiple flat, flip down TV screens featuring Philly hot spots, and suddenly this Purple Trolley is pimped out. Maybe I’ll see if MTV will resurrect “Pimp My Ride” and really pimp this trolley out (I’m thinking disco ball, a cheesesteak machine, etc)
Puts The PH in Phlash
No it’s not the Flash, it’s the Phlash. Because we’re Philly we can replace every F with our PH. It’s like Phat vs. Fat. Phat is waaaay better. So if you ride the Phlash that’s Phat. Well, you get it.
Stop #7: Reading Terminal...and Chinatown, Convention Center
Reading Terminal Market is kind of like a food court on steroids. I think I might have gained 5lbs after I played musical stool, rotating among DiNics pork sandwich, Delilah’s Mac & Cheese, Tokyo Sushi Bar, Famous 4th St Cookies, and my favorite, the baked apple dumpling with fresh cream at the Amish restaurant.
So after this eating frenzy you might need to sprawl out on an entire bench in the Trolley and just take a nap.
Stop #15: Philadelphia Zoo
A cab ride to and from the Zoo might cost you a Ben Franklin in traffic instead of the 5$ all day Phlash fare. Even the monkeys would laugh at you for taking a cab. And nobody likes being laughed at by a monkey.
who picked the music for this? It reminds me of the music in supermarket commercials as they’re screaming about their meat sales. Actually it’s probably closer to the music in Wheel Of Fortune’s closing credits. But once you get beyond the music, you can at least see how the purple trolley rolls.
Won't Leave Your Wallet as Bare as Your Fridge
Ok, this is a huge selling point for freelancers, like myself, who don’t have cash to throw around in cabs. And it’s cheaper than the $2.75 bus fare. My 5$ all day pass has been used well. I’m on a first name basis with the drivers. All the cool kids are. oh wait, that’s not cool? damn, I was so close this time.
