Great Ways To Camp in Your Car

A few great, free or cheap places to sleep in your vehicle near Denver, Colorado. Let’s face it – in these times having a free (or cheap) place to sleep in your car overnight can be a lifesaver. I’ve listed a few places AND a few Wal-Marts as they allow overnight stays for RVs. Just make sure you park near an RV as if you’re with them.

Buffalo Springs Campground

Find your way to Buffalo Springs

Buffalo Springs Campground

PO Box 219 Castle Rock, CO 80440

Very cheap overnight camping about an hour south of Denver. 14 day max and no showers. There is a hand pump for drinking water. Lots of Hippies…

Mile High Flea Market

I-76 and 88th Avenue Henderson, CO 80640

The Mile High Flea Marker has overnight parking on weekends – check and see if they still allow this and what the price is.

Keep in mind:

There was a time when you could sleep in a rest-stop along the I-70 highway – not any more. If you do stop at a rest-stop to spend the night prepare for the law to pay you a visit and make you move along, especially if you are sleeping in a car. Still, you might get away with a night or two of peace.

Keep Comfy:

If you have a minivan or SUV, sleeping on a (somewhat) flat floor is fairly easy; however, the floor is usually hard, uneven and bolts/hooks/screws can be rather uncomfortable. Instead of an inflatable mattress, try a few old blankets on the floor. Remember: It’s important to pad and insulate underneath as that’s where you loose a majority of your body heat. – an excerpt from http://www.examiner.com/x-2102-Denver-Autos-Examiner~y2009m3d4-Snooze-In-What-You-Cruise-In
