I just got back from the Doctor and I'm ordered to get lots of liquids, sleep, and basic R&R. I left the Dr.'s office and went straight to the grocery store to get a few supplies that you must have in order to survive the next few days of aches and pains.

I know you feel like crud, but you’ll be thankful when you get home and you have everything you need to get well soon.

Medicine

You’ve got to have a stocked pantry when you are hit with a fever, flu, strep throat or cold. Hit up your local grocery store or drug store for some of the basics, and your pharmacy for when you get prescribed the strong stuff.

Rest

Sometimes it’s hard to sleep when you’re achy and coughing so much you can’t sit still. A few things that help me relax: hot bath, heating pad, comfy pillow and cozy blanket.

Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements

Who knows if they really work, but it can’t hurt to up your intake of Vitamin C, echinacea, Airborne and more.

 

Liquids

As if you didn’t know already, your Dr. is going to recommend that you drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. Things like Gatorade, Emergen-C, and my favorite, soup, are all great ways to quench your thirst.

Groceries

You may not be hungry, but you’ve got to keep your energy up. I already mentioned soup, but also get some fruit (bananas are good for upset tummies), popsicles (great for sore throats) and maybe a couple of frozen dinners so you don’t have to cook or clean.
