I think tattoos are pretty cool, but needles make me so squirmy I could probably never get one (just even thinking about them makes my feet all twitchy). But that doesn't stop me from thinking about what kind of tattoo I'd get. If I ever get my hands on some horse tranquilizers, I have some potential tattoos in mind-- do you have any potential tattoos in mind?
Music-Inspired
Typically, my music tastes change too frequently to get a music related tattoo, but I think the one exception would be Radiohead— although, I’m not sure I’d go with the Scary Bear like this person did…
Radiohead Tattoo
I’d probably go with the Crying Minotaur instead.
Foreign Language-Inspired
There’s something sorta sexy about having a tattoo written in a foreign language— and no, Elvish is NOT a foreign language.
Sanskrit Tattoo
I think Sanskrit is a really beautiful language, and a quote in Sanskrit would make for a gorgeous tattoo. But since Angelina’s already been there and done that, I’m less inclined to go the Sanskrit route. Perhaps Phoenician???
Mongolian Script
Mongolia kicks so much ass because it’s essentially an Arabic script (well, Uyghur, but really, it’s just Arabic letters), but written vertically rather than horizontally.
Geek-Inspired
I don’t know why, but I just can’t say no to a cute looking robot. And needless to say, I’m totally crushing on this little green guy.
Robot Tattoo
I was looking for a good image of a cute looking robot tattoo, and I stumbled upon this and it’s exactly what I was envisioning—wouldn’t this make the PERFECT robot tattoo??
Literary-Inspired
Speaking of languages, I don’t know if I would take the literary thing TOO literally (see above), but I think it would be cool to get a tattoo of some sort of significant quote. Although, the thought of just choosing one quote makes my head spin.
Dickens Tattoo
This person’s 9th grade English teacher would be SO proud.
Science-Inspired
I think I might be a closet science geek, because I think this molecular tattoo is PRETTY awesome.
Bubble Chamber Tattoo
According to Wikipedia, “a bubble chamber is a vessel filled with a superheated transparent liquid (most often liquid hydrogen) used to detect electrically charged particles moving through it.” Isn’t physics AWESOME? Odds are you’ve seen a bubble chamber in all its pretty glory before and didn’t realize it— there’s a picture of one on the cover of The Strokes’ debut album.
Charles Darwin Tattoo
Take that, Intelligent Design!
Math-Inspired
What’s sexier than a science-inspired tattoo? A math-inspired tattoo! Both of these have something to do with the area of elliptic partial differential equations. Hot.
Art-Inspired
I think it would be awesome to get an art-inspired tattoo. I really love Matisse’s later work and I think it would be pretty cool to get something reminiscent of his more abstract work.
Matisse Tattoo
This dude’s got a full-on Matisse painting on his arm. I’d probably want to for something more abstract, but this is pretty cool just the same.
For me, half of the joy of a tattoo is figuring out where to put it. If I were the bohemian whackjob that I wish I could be, I would have a Berber chin tattoo. And I’d probably spend some time in Tunisia, getting skin cancer.
The STAR tattoo
So a lot of people have different types of star tattoos, nautical, shooting, etc. etc. I myself happen to have a star tattoo on my wrist, like little Avril above….but mine is SO much more awesome why? Well because I share the tattoo with my Aunt, my Mom and my 67 year old Granny!!!! The starts keep up connected no matter where we are.
Mehndi-Inspired
I think Mehndi designs are really awesome— they’re so amazing I’d definitely consider getting a permanent Mehndi tattoo.
