Your favorite Asian snacks?

I pretty much live on Asian snacks, and I know there are others out there who do the same! Whether your entire diet consists of Pocky and Haw Flakes, or if you just like to dabble in the occasional Cup Noodle and Wasabi Pea, I wanna hear it from you. What's your favorite?

Haw Flakes

Haw Flakes are fucking classy. They are elegant, come in a package that evokes some sort of firecracker or other explosive, and they’re flavored like something called “haw,” and whatever “haw” is remains a complete mystery to me.

Muscat Gummy

The packaging of Muscat gummies make you think of something bursting with flavor, like say, a Gusher, but these things are surprisingly mild and rather subtle. A mochi type chew that is translucent in color, Muscat gummies are a nice little treat for the tastebuds and for increasing your blood sugar levels to dangerous highs.

Wasabi Peas

Who doesn’t like Wasabi Peas? I maintain there is no such person alive. Roasted hot green peas covered in wasabi? This would not be my definition of an intuitive snack, but for some reason it works, and it works well. A great night in for me includes the entire third season of Dexter, a bag of Wasabi Peas, and a huge bottle of Soju. Sexy, right?

Green Tea Tempura Ice Cream

Green Tea ice cream fried in tempura? Are you kidding me? Is it really possible that so much goodness could exist in one crispy green package?

Answer: YES. GIVE ME MORE.

Pocky

Pocky is the granddaddy of all Asian snacks. It comes in many varieties these days, but the safe standards will always be chocolate and strawberry – I prefer the chocolate! It’s basically a buttery stick of sugared vanilla goodness, dipped in more sugary creamy stuff! How can you go wrong with diabetes on a stick?

Cup Noodles

Let’s be serious here. People say these are a meal, but no way is a cup of noodles a meal for me. That shit’s a snack, if anything. If you put two of them together, maybe I’ll give you “breakfast,” but any other time fo the day and this is just a snack, albeit a delicious one with absolutely no redeeming nutritional value.

"Soda Candy"

Mmmm. Well, I’m actually a “pop candy” fan, since we don’t say “soda” where I’m from. There used to be American soda candies when I was little, kind of tart and gummy, but I haven’t seen them since. These will do!

This stuff is probably giving me cavities, but I don’t care!

White Rabbit Candy

Although they are probably full of melamine, China’s White Rabbit candies are delish. OK, they are frequently stale, but if you can get your hands on a fresh batch, in Beijing, uh… well, they are like a condensed milk-flavored Tootsie Roll.

Fruit Jellies

Little miniature jello-cups are so incredibly tasty. They come in a variety of flavors, but I love lychee best of all. OK, and soursop.

What the Pho? El Guapo is a big fan of the muscat gummies and wasabi peas (not together)
